Lots of people have gotten Resell Rights products and I’ve had people asking me how to best use them so I thought I’d quickly step through one way you can use the Resell Rights products to help make you money, build your list and build your relationship with your customers and prospects.

Resell Rights products — be they just Resell/Resale Rights, Master Resell Rights/Master Resale Rights or Private Label Resell Rights products — give you the rights to resell the products to other people. Sometimes they also allow you to give them away; just read the rights license. (Click here for more information on what Resell Rights products are and ways to use them).

Assuming you already have a domain name (try 1 & 1 if you need one), hosting account (my favorites are Blue Host and Host Gator) and e-mail management/autoresponder account (I use Aweber), here are the 15 steps to best use Resell Rights products to improve your business:

1. Find some products that fit together well, maybe they all talk about different ways of getting traffic or different aspects of how to be an affiliate marketer or whatever; just make sure they complement each other.

Of course, make sure the products are something your existing prospects and customers will want to buy and/or, if you’re looking to start something new and drive traffic to it, then it can be any set of products where together they are better than apart; but remember to do some research to find what hot topics have buyers waiting for your solution.

2. Take some really good products (two or three is enough) and make those your primary products, that is, the central part of your offer.

3. Take some other products (two or three is enough) and make those your bonus products; to enhance the total offer.

4. Take another product and use it as a freebie; this will help attract propsects and build your list.

5. Take some more products for your back-end (at least one or two but there can be more); these need to make what they just bought even more valuable and will increase your average value per customer.

6. Take some additional products (at least one but three or four is better) for unannounced bonuses; these help build your relationship with your customers and reduce refunds.

7. Create a sales page. Usually the easiest way to do that is look at the sales pages for your primary products (step 2 above) and find the best one (the one that hits the most emotional triggers for your intended audience.

Then add the other primary products to that sales page using the best sales copy from those other primary products’ sales pages.

Be sure to put you payment button or link on the sales page (like a PayPal button, PayDotCom button or your 1ShoppingCart link) in place of the one already there.

8. (Optional but recommended) Create some new graphics, like e-book covers and header graphics to differentiate yourself some from everyone else.

You can also create some graphics for your affiliates to use when they promote your product.

9. Add an “exit pop” to the give away the freebie (step 4 above); I use Virtual Smart Agent but there are other good ones also.

If someone tries to leave the page without purchasing then, have the window pop up telling them that they can get a free product just for giving you their e-mail address. This capture the e-mail address right from the pop up and put it directly in your list (like your Aweber list) or you can have it go to a new page where they sign up there.

Note though, that if you are using Google AdWords, they don’t like pages that have any type of pop ups.

Alternately, or in addition to, you can use the freebie on a squeeze page solely for list building purposes and then later try to get them to your sales page from the follow up e-mails you send.

10. Create an opt-in page so you can capture the customers e-mail address after purchase (unless you are using an integrated solution like 1ShoppingCart or Infusionsoft).

This is similar to step 9 but it is a list of customers not a list of prospects. It is always better to separate the two if possible.

11. Create a special offer or one-time-offer page (or pages) that people go to after they’ve confirmed the e-mail address they entered in the opt-in page. You can use the upsell/downsell method.

If you are using 1ShoppingCart you can get it to do this semi-automatically; you still need to create the page but it will manage getting the customer from one page to the next.

12. Create one or more download pages where they can download the products they purchased; like the sales page take one of the existing download/thank you pages and add the additional products — 1ShoppingCart will create a thank you page where people can get download their products if you use them for digital delivery.

Put one or more unannounced bonuses on this page and also some other offers, either of your own products or other people’s products who you are an affiliate for.

You can talk to other marketers and do an ad swap, that is, trade putting their ad on your download/thank you page if they’ll put your ad on theirs.

13. Create an autoresponder sequence in your e-mail management program (again, like Aweber). Have at least 5 follow up e-mails up to 10 or 12, spaced appropriately.

In the first, third and fifth put in unannounced bonuses they can download.

In all the e-mails put some tips or other information related to the original products; mention upcoming bonuses in all e-mails.

In every third or fourth one put in an ad for a product (yours or someone else’s).

14. Invite affiliates to promote your products, give them at least 50% commission on up to 100% if you just want to build your list; if you have good back-end products that you can get to convert well (that is, that many people will want to buy) you can even offer more than 100% commission.

Provide them with things to help them like graphic banner and ads, e-mail swipe files they can use to send to their lists, free products they can give their lists, text ads, audio ads, video ads, PPC ads, etc.

Anything you can provide to your affiliates that will help them will make it more likely they will promote your product which helps them and you.

15. Test and tweak the sales pages uncluding the offer to maximize conversions.

Conclusion

There you have it, 15 steps to take to succeed with Resell Rights products; one of the very best things is that, after you set it up, it then just runs on auto-pilot, making sales for you over and over without you doing anything.

Of course, you MUST to get traffic to the sales page but the above is how you have somewhere for that traffic to go.

Another great thing is that you can do this over and over, so get one sales page working and bringing consistent money and then do the process again and again.

Leave a comment below if you have any questions or feedback.

O.Y. I guess I need to say, although you’re marketers so you already know this, that for most of the links above I will get a small commission if you actually sign up through the link. Here is a summary of the resources:

Like Resell Rights products, Master Resell Rights (or Master Resale Rights) products have grown in popularity over the last few years and are one of the easiest ways to get a product you can sell online. Master Resell Rights are a great way to make steady income on the Internet because they are ready-made “out-of-the-box” products that you can sell and you keep 100% of the sale. The power of having your own products to sell is great, but there are ways of doing it right and ways of doing it wrong and one can lead to success and one can lead to failure. As you’ll see there is one real advantage that Master Resell Rights products have over Resell Rights products. We’re going to look at what Master Resell Rights products are, why you’d want them and how to use them properly. As with the other types of rights, they are easy to understand and in a few minutes from now you’ll know just about everything you need to know about them and how to use them to make money. What Are Master Resell Rights? Master Resell Rights products have been all the rage for some years now and they remain the easiest way to get a product you can sell online. In fact, other than being an affiliate for other people products there is no easier way or more popular way to start an online business. Master Resell Rights can be a great way to make a steady income because they are ready-made “out-of-the-box” products that you can sell and you keep 100% of the profits (you don’t have to pay the original author any type of royalties). Most successful Internet Marketers make their livings selling information products online because they know that selling e-books and other digital products is a relatively easy way to make a consistent income. While the convenience of having your own products you can sell is great, there are ways of doing it right and ways of doing it wrong and one can lead to success and one can lead to failure. We’re going to look what Resell Rights products are, why you’d want them and how to use them properly.

Like we saw with Resell Rights products, Master Resell Rights (or Master Resale Rights) products have grown in popularity over the last few years and are one of the easiest ways to get a product you can sell online.

As you’ll see there is one strong advantage that Master Resell Rights products have over Resell Rights products.

We’re going to look at what Master Resell Rights products are, why you’d want them and how to use them properly.

As with the other types of rights, they are easy to understand and in a few minutes from now you’ll know just about everything you need to know about them and how to use them to make money.

What Are Master Resell Rights?

Master Resell Rights (MRR) products, sometime called Master Resale Rights products, are complete products that allow you to sell the product as your own and to keep all the profits you make from your sales.

When you but a Master Resell Rights product you get a copy of the product for you to use and sell. You also frequently get a complete sales page and a license that allows you to sell the product, “as is”.

You can’t change the product but you can change the sales page or create your own.

You will need some place on the Internet to put and sell the product, usually this is a Web hosting account and a domain name.

As with every type of rights product you buy, when you buy a Master Resell Rights product you absolutely MUST read the license; it will have specific rules that tell you what you can and what you cannot do with the product.

For example, the license might say that you must sell the product for a minimum price to help keep the value of the product high.

It will also let you know things like if you can give away the product or if you can use it as a bonus.

The license terms are as varied as there are people selling them so be sure to read your license, preferably before you buy the product!

The difference between Master Resell Rights products and Resell Rights products are that with Master Resell Rights products you get the rights to sell the resell rights to the product and, if some cases, you can sell the master resell rights to the product.

Why You’d Want to Use Master Resell Rights

You can get Master Resell Rights to just many digital products, including digital books, software, graphic images, courses and many other things.

A nice advantage of products like this is that you don’t spend your time and money creating the products , which can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, and can devote your time and money actually promoting them.

Obviously this can provide you big benefits, the same benefits you’d get from creating your own products from scratch.

In addition, you also have the rights to sell the resell rights to the product.

This adds a second stream of revenue that Resell Rights products don’t have; earning you more money from the same number of customers.

Let’s look at the example we used last time but add this second revenue stream to see what different it makes.

If you remember, we assumed you had resell rights to a product and could sell just 1 every week at $27, it seemed reasonable to be able to do that.

So, at the end of the year you’d have made $1,404 ($27 times 52 weeks).

Now say that you also sold the resell rights to your customers for an additional $27 and you only sold one of those each month, this would add $324 bring your total to $1,728 for the year (an increase of 23%).

Then say you sell master resell rights to the product for $27 and you sell just one of those every quarter, this brings you total revenue for the year to $1,836; that’s a 31% increase in revenue over not having master resell rights with no more customers).

If you do that with 11 more products, instead of $1,836 a year, you are making $22,032 a year.

If you were able to sell 2 products a week instead of 1, the resell rights twice a month and the master resell right just once a month you increase your total for the 12 products to $45,360 every year.

You can see by adding more products, which isn’t hard, and by selling more products you can be making good money with little effort.

This is one of the keys to making money online that most people miss. You don’t have to sell lots of any one product. Sure, that’s great but it is much harder.

Just sell fewer of each product but sell more products, each one may only bring you in a small income but the total can add up to big money.

There is no limit to how many products you can have so your income is also unlimited.

So, why would you want to use Master Resell Rights products?

They can be very lucrative.

As I said, I personally know about a dozen people who are making multiple 6-figure incomes each year just from selling resell rights products and have heard of people making 7-figures. All of those people are doing exactly what I explained above.

Second, they you get multiple streams of income from them.

That’s reason enough but they can also build your list, improve your reputation and make you well known.

How to Benefit from Master Resell Rights Products

You can take Master Resell Rights products and do the following.

Sell It and Make Money

Sell Master Resell Rights products to get another source of income for your business. Duh!

Sell Resell Rights and Make Money

Sell the resell rights to your products to get a second new source of income for your business.

Sell Master Resell Rights and Make Money

While you won’t get as much money for each sale from an affiliate you don’t have to find customers and the sales may well be ones you never would have gotten.

They also become your customers so you can market other product to them,

This is an fast and easy way to build your list without doing additional work.

However, make sure that your license allows you to include the product in giveaway events.

Making the Most of Resell Rights Products

Like everything you sell, the key to using Master Resell Rights products is to differentiate yourself from everyone else selling the same product.

This is especially important since you can’t actually change the product itself. Therefore, you need to change everything else that you can, this includes:

Creating a new sales page with new and different graphics

Changing the bonus products, adding new bonuses and/or removing existing bonuses

Changing the name of the product although some people feel it is dishonest to do that

The key to selling Master Resell Rights products is making sure you get enough targeted traffic so by differentiating your products from the others and get lots the right traffic and you’ll “clean up”.

Conclusion

Master Resell Rights (Master Resale Rights) products, products that you are allowed to sell them and sell the resell rights to the products and keep 100% of the profits, is an fabulous way to quickly and easily way start or improve an online business.

Some ways to use them are:

Sell It and Make Money

Sell the Resell Rights and Make Money

Sell the Master Resell Rights and Make Money

Build Your List

Use as a Bonus

Add It to a Membership Site

Let Affiliates Promote It

Do you use Master Resell Rights products?

Resell Rights products have been all the rage for some years now and they remain the easiest way to get a product you can sell online.

In fact, other than being an affiliate for other people products there is no easier way or more popular way to start an online business.

Resell Rights can be a great way to make a steady income because they are ready-made “out-of-the-box” products that you can sell and you keep 100% of the profits (you don’t have to pay the original author any type of royalties).

Don’t worry, it’s all easy to understand and in just a few minutes from now you’ll know just about everything you need to know about them and how to use them to make money.

What Are Resell Rights?

Basically, Resell Rights are fully created products that allow you to sell the product as your own and to keep all the profits you make from your sales.

The way it works is you get a copy of the product and frequently a sales page (with accompanying graphics) along with a license that allows you to sell the product, “as is”.

That means, of course, that you can’t make changes to the product but you can make changes to sales page, or create your own.

Unlike with promoting someone else’s products, you will also need some place on the Internet to put and sell the product. This can be your own Web hosting account and domain name or one of those free places (the free places are not generally recommended though).

When you buy your Resell Rights product you must read the license as they frequently have rules that tell you what you can and cannot do with the product.

Some examples, the license might include a minimum price you must sell the product for (this helps to keep the value and profits of the product higher) or it might say you can give away the product for free but you can add it as a bonus to another paid product.

One thing you do not get with Resell Rights is the rights to give your customers resell rights; that is called Master Resell Rights.

The license terms are as varied as there are people selling them so be sure to read your license, preferably before you buy the product!

Why You’d Want to Use Resell Rights

You can get Resell Rights to just about any type of digital product (and to some physical products), including reports, digital books/e-books, software, digital course and even a series Twitter tweets.

One real advantage is that you don’t spend your time and money creating products (this can cost thousands of dollars), you spend it promoting your products and reaping the same rewards you’d get if you had created them yourself – it seems almost dishonest doesn’t it

I went online and Googled to see if I could get a rough guesstimate of how many Resell Rights products are just in a few popular niches. I gave up when I was up to several hundred thousands products, and there are hundreds of niches.

Think of it, probably millions of resell rights products are available to you, think of how many streams of income you could have.

Say you’ve got resell rights to a product and you were able to sell just one every week at $27, doesn’t sound like it should be that hard.

At the end of the year you’d have made $27 times 52 weeks or $1,404 – you won’t retire on that but it’s still nice to have and you didn’t have to do much work other than the few minutes it takes to get the product and put it online.

Now do that just 11 more times and you are making $1,404 every month not every year (that’s $ 16,848 every year).

Now do that 4 more times and you’re making $1,404 almost every week – a whopping $73,008 every year without you doing much work.

And there is no limit to how many times you can do it.

Just think if you were able to sell 2 every week instead of 1, you would double those numbers and, how about selling one every day, just imagine that!

So, why would you want to use Resell Rights products?

They can be wildly lucrative.

I personally know about a dozen people who are making multiple 6-figure incomes each year just from selling resell rights products and have heard of people making 7-figures.

Really, do you need any other reason?

Sure they can build your list, sure they can help improve your reputation and make you well known, but the bottom line is you want them to make you money and they can do that.

How to Benefit from Resell Rights Products

You can take Resell Rights products and do the following.

Sell It and Make Money

Sell Resell Rights products to add an additional source of income to your business. I think you understand that one by now and, after all, they are call reSELL rights products!

Build Your List

Every time you sell something you should be adding the customer to at least one of your lists. Some people don’t but this is very foolish, don’t do it!

Use as a Bonus

Most resell rights products let you include the product as a bonus when selling other products.

This lets you make money directly from the Resell Rights product but also increases your sales for some of your other products because their value goes up by the inclusion of the bonus products.

Add It to a Membership Site

Add the product to a paid membership site. This, obviously, enhances the value of the membership site so you’ll get and retain more members making you additional recurring income (that is, income you get month after month).

Let Affiliates Promote It

Create an affiliate program or just put it on ClickBank or PayDotCom and let affiliates promote the product for you.

While you won’t get as much money for each sale from an affiliate you don’t have to find customers and the sales may well be ones you never would have gotten.

They also become your customers so you can market other product to them,

Submit to Giveaway Events

Sometimes you can submit Resell Rights products to giveaway events (if they allow them, some will and some won’t).

This is an easy way to gain the benefits of list building without doing a lot of additional work, but make sure you have the rights to include the product in giveaway events.

Making the Most of Resell Rights Products

The key to using resell rights products is to differentiate yourself from everyone else selling the same product.

Since you can’t change the product itself you need to change everything else.

Create a new sales page and use new and different graphics.

Change the bonus products, including adding new relevant bonuses and removing existing bonuses.

Some people also change the name of the product which can work out well but some people don’t like doing it because it can cause problems and some people feel it is dishonest.

The key to selling Resell Rights products is generating targeted traffic so differentiate yourself and get lots the right traffic and you’ll do well.

Conclusion

Resell Rights products, products that you are allowed to sell them and keep 100% of the profits, can be a great way to quickly and easily get products and start or increase an online business.

Some ways to use them are:

Sell It and Make Money

Build Your List

Use as a Bonus

Add It to a Membership Site

Do you use Resell Rights products?

If so, great? How has it helped? What lessons have you learned?

If not, why not? What is stopping you? What are your challenges?

Rebrand Rights are very much like Giveaway Rights, but they are even better

We’re going to look what they are, why you’d want them and how to use them.

Part of that confusion is that the term is not always used the same way by all people.

Fortunately, it’s all easy to understand and in just a few minutes from now you’ll know just about everything you want to know about them.

What Are Rebrand Rights?

Basically, Rebrand Rights allow you to “brand” the product - usually an ebook, report, or software program – before you give it away or sell it.

By “brand” I mean you can edit a few things in the product, things like affiliate links (the most common), the author’s name and the resource box. You then can give them away, or rarely sell them, to customers and prospects.

You can’t change anything else but the few things the original author let you and usually this is done via some branding software that it included with the Rebrand Rights product.

Quite commonly you can give your customer Giveaway Rights to the product.

The difference between Giveaway Right, Reprint Rights and Rebrand Rights are:

With Giveaway Rights, you must give the original file away and can’t use the content on any of your Web properties; you don’t get the original source file

With Reprint Rights, you don’t give away the actual original file like with giveaway rights but you take the contents of the file about put it on your Web page or blog or where ever, so you should get the original source file

With Rebrand Rights, you must give or sell the original file away and can’t use the content on any of your Web properties but you have the option of changing selected things like affiliate links before you give it away); you can only change what the author allows and don’t get the original source file. You can let your customers have Giveaway Rights

Why You’d Want to Use Rebrand Rights

Rebrand Rights most frequently refer to reports, digital books/e-books and software that you can add your links to.

Successful marketers know that, like Giveaway Rights, you can use it to build your list and reward your customers but since you can give away the product you get a tremendous viral effect.

This about it, if you gave it to 100 people you’d have 100 people knowing about you BUT if just 25% of them gave it to 100 you’d have an additional 2,500 people knowing about you and if just 10% of those gave it to 100 people you’d have an addition 25,000 people knowing about you!

All because you gave away a product with your name and links; an amazing way to expand your presence in your niche – think of it as having a great salesperson!

Rebrand Rights products can provide a huge boost in amount of traffic and list subscribers you get.

It’s like having affiliates that you don’t have to pay!

How to Benefit from Rebrand Rights Products

You can take Rebrand Rights products and do the following.

Build Your List

Like Giveaway Right, the most common way to use Rebrand Rights products is to brand them and then give them away.

Take your rebranded product and give it away on a squeeze page (a page that gets e-mail address in return for the product.)

Easy to do and it works great for building you list but it is even better than Giveaway Rights because other people help you build it.

You can even get affiliates to promote your squeeze pages and let them help you build your list, see Easy Way to Get Affiliates to Promote Your Squeeze Page.

Use as a Thank You

Use rebranded products as a thank you to existing prospects and customers; thanking them for having purchased your product, for being on your list and just to help cement your relationship with them.

You can also use it as a thank you for someone coming to any of your Web properties; just give it away without obligation.

Keep your in their minds so when they are ready to purchase what you have to offer they’ll think of you.

Sell It

If the specific rights allow it, you can sell Rebrand Rights products to add an additional source of income to your business.

Use as a Bonus

You use Rebrand Rights products as a bonus for buying something from you; you can tell them about it or delight them with it as an unannounced bonus.

You can do the same thing a special, surprise bonus for signing up for your list.

Give It to Your Affiliates

As you can with Giveaway Rights products, you can give Rebrand Rights products to your affiliates to help them grow their business as well as promote your products.

They then give it away using any of the methods above.

To get even more participation try swapping rebranded products, they can give you theirs for you to use and you can give them yours for them to use, so they feel you’re getting even more value.

Submit to Giveaway Events

You can, of course, submit Rebrand Rights products to giveaway events if they allow them, some will and some won’t.

This is an easy way to gain the benefits for list building without doing a lot of additional work.

Conclusion

Rebrand Rights products, products that you are allowed to brand with your links and name freely use as content is a super, quick and easy way of list building, driving traffic, and building relationships.

Some ways to use them are:

-Put on a squeeze page to build your list

Use as a thank you to existing prospects and customers or to new leads

Sell it

Use as a bonus to a paid product or as surprise bonuses

Give then to your affiliates so they can benefit

Submit them to Giveaway events

Do you use Rebrand Rights products?

If so, great? How has it helped? What lessons have you learned?

If not, why not? What is stopping you? What are your challenges?

Like Giveaway Rights, there is confusion about what Reprint Rights are, why you’d want reprint rights and how to use them.

Part of that confusion is that the term is not always used the same way by all people.

Fortunately, it’s all easy to understand and in just a few minutes from now you’ll know just about everything you want to know about them.

What Are Reprint Rights?

In a nutshell, Reprint Rights are rights that let you take content – usually articles and reports – and “reprint” them, that is, use them, on your Web site, blog, e-mail, etc.

You can’t change them or sell them and you usually need to include the original author’s information (resource box).

These are the same rights that giveaway products have and there are 2 differences between them:

With Reprint Rights, you don’t give the actual original file like with giveaway rights but copy the contents of the file onto your Web page or blog or where ever

With Giveaway Rights, you must give the original file away and can’t use the content on any of your Web properties

Why You’d Want to Use Reprint Rights

As mentioned, Reprint Rights usually refer to articles or reports that are allowed to be reprinted elsewhere for others to read.

There are huge advantages to that because you can have continuous stream or additional content for your blogs and Web sites without taking the time or spending the money to create it.

Successful Internet Marketers know that having lots of great, new content keeps people attracted to them and makes the search engines sit up and pay attention; showing their love by higher search results positions.

How to Benefit from Reprint Rights Products

You can take Reprint Rights products and do the following.

Build Your List

There are many ways you can build your list with Reprint Rights products; here are some quick and easy ones:

Start a newsletter and have people sign up for it; use Reprint Rights products to get content for it.

Take a Reprint Rights report and put it on a Web page, then put a sign up (squeeze) page in front of it and after someone signs up they can read the report on the Web page

Take a Reprint Rights course or reports and put a sign up page in front of it and after someone signs up they can read the report or course via an e-mail or a series of e-mails

Each of those ways will help you build a larger list.

Use as a Thank You

You can use Reprint Rights products to thank people already on your list by periodically sending them a link to a report or article that would be valuable to them.

You can also use it as a thank you to people who come to one of your Web properties (blog, site, lens hub page, etc.) by put the Reprint Rights product on a Web page and providing them with a link to it without asking for their e-mail address.

This helps in keeping your relationship with your customers strong and keeps you on their minds.

Use as a Bonus

Give access to a Reprint Rights report or article series as a bonus for purchasing your products.

This could be an announced bonus or a surprise, unannounced one.

Give It to Your Affiliates

Provide a link to affiliates so they can use your Reprint Rights products to help them grow their own business.

It saves them the time of finding it and creating a Web page for it, it’s best if you can customize the page to each affiliate; this shouldn’t be difficult with a little technical work.

Use as Content

As I mentioned, a really great way of using Reprint Rights products is to use it for content on your Web properties.

Having a lot of great content and having a lot of fresh content will help you get higher search engine ranking.

Conclusion

Reprint Rights products, products that you are allowed to freely use as content is a great and cost effective way of driving traffic, list building and relationship marketing.

Some ways to use them are:

Put on a squeeze page to build your list

Send in an e-mail or e-mail series

Use as a thank you to customers

Use as a bonus to a paid product

Provide to your affiliates so they can benefit

Use as content on your Web properties

Do you use Reprint Rights products?

If so, how? How has it helped? What lessons have you learned?

If not, why not? What is stopping you? What are your challenges?

After getting feedback on my last post about Giveaway Rights, I’ve realized there is still a need to explain all the different product rights options.

I guess it makes sense because if you been around in the Internet Marketing world at all, products rights is a confusing place with many different type of rights, many rights sounding the same as other rights but being different and even those that are the same are different.

In future blog posts I’ll go into depth about many of them but before that I’m going to give an overview.

We’ll look at the most common rights you’ll find and give you a good basic understanding of each so you know what to look for.

Remember though that each product is different and may give different rights, even if it uses a common term, so be sure to read the rights license to know exactly what you’re getting.

Let’s get to it…

Personal Use Rights (PU)

The most basic rights of all, Personal Use Rights means that you can use and benefit from the product personally but you can do anything else with it, including but not limited to giving it away, selling it, putting it on you Web site or changing it.

Giveaway Rights (GR)

For more details on Giveaway Rights see my blog post Giveaway Rights Products: What? Why? How? but, in short, Giveaway Rights allows you to give away the product.

You can’t sell it or accept payment of any amount for the product but you can give it away as a gift.

This is a good way to do list building and relationship building and the minimum rights you need to do that.

Reprint Rights/Republish Rights (RpR)

Reprint Rights, sometimes called Republish Rights, is a restricted form of Giveaway Rights.

It allows you to take the products, most commonly an article or report, and “reprint” it, that is, put it on your Web site, or on your blog or in your newsletter; you must not change anything including the product or the product author information.

You may not sell this information.

This is particularly useful to add content to your Web properties without cost and with little effort. If the source provides an RSS feed you can even have it done automatically.

Rebranding Rights (RbR)

With Rebranding Rights you are allowed to “brand”, change some very specific parts of the product.

The most common change allowed is to change any links in the product to be your affiliate links but other include putting your name and Web site on the product and adding your advertisement.

To stop people from making any other changes and to make it easier to brand the products a “rebrander” is usually included. Some examples are Turbo Brander and Viral PDF.

While no other rights are given with Rebranding Rights there is no other reason to allow branding without giving some other rights so expect to be able to give away the product; sometimes you are allowed to sell the product.

This is a more powerful way to do viral marketing, list building and relationship building.

Resell Rights/Resale Rights (RR/BRR)

Resell Rights, also frequently called Resale Rights or Basic Resell/Resale Rights, means you get the rights to sell the product to your customers and, of course, keep 100% of the money they pay you.

You may get other rights, like allowing you to use the product as a bonus or the ability to add to a membership site but that should be detailed in the rights license you receive and should not be assumed.

It does not mean that your customers get any rights other than Personal Use Rights nor does it mean you can change the product in any way.

This is the most basic rights you need if you plan to sell the product.

Master Resell Rights/ Master Resale Rights (MRR)

Master Resell Rights, also frequently called Master Resale Rights, means Resell Rights and that you can pass on Resell Rights (and usually Master Resell Rights) to your customers.

As with Resell Rights, you may get other rights, like allowing you to use the product as a bonus or the ability to add to a membership site but check the rights license to be sure.

This is the most basic rights you need if you sell to customers who are looking for product to sell.

Private Label Rights (PLR)

Private Label Rights means you get the right to change the product.

It does not give you the right to sell the product although almost all the time some other type of rights – Giveaway, Resell or Master Resell – are also included; again check the actual rights license you receive with the product.

Usually you can put your name as author on the product and frequently you MUST put your name as author on the product.

Sometimes you are allowed to claim copyright and sometimes you are not, of course, if you change it enough that copyright laws would consider it a new product then you can claim copyright on that.

Frequently, you don’t get the rights to pass on Private Label Rights to your customers so be sure to check that.

This is the most basic rights you need if you wish to modify the product itself.

Other Rights

Nontransferable Rights (NT)

As the name implies, this means the some, or all, of the rights you receive aren’t transferable to your customers.

This is most frequently used with Private Label Rights which would mean you can change the product but your customers cannot.

Physical Product Rights (PPR)

Physical Product Rights allows you to take a digital product and turn it into a physical product like a CD or DVD.

Like Rebranding Rights, you don’t actually get any other rights – like to give away or sell – but there is no purpose to creating a physical if you can’t do something with it, so expect to also receive other rights along with the Translation Rights.

This is good rights to have if you want to have a premium product, sell on eBay or want to take your online customers offline.

Licensing Rights/Royalty Rights (LcR)

Licensing Rights, sometimes called Royalty Rights, is sort of a combination of Resell Rights and selling as an affiliate.

It allows you to sell the product and then pay a license (royalty) fee for each product sold.

This is very similar to getting a commission as an affiliate except that you have the advantages and disadvantages of controlling the sales process.

While not as good as Resell Rights, Licensing Rights is generally better than being an affiliate as you make more money and you get the customer not the product vendor.

Translation Rights (TrR)

Translation Rights allows you to translate the product into one or more languages different that the original language; your license will tell you how many languages or sometimes which languages you have the rights to.

Like Rebranding Rights, you don’t actually get any other rights – like to give away or sell – but there is no purpose to the translation if you can’t do something with it, so expect to also receive other rights along with the Translation Rights.

This is particularly good in being able to sell to specific markets, for example Spanish or Chinese speaking markets.

Unrestricted Rights (U)

Getting Unrestricted Rights means you can pretty much do whatever you want with the product within the boundaries of the type of rights you get.

For example, if you get Unrestricted Resell Rights (URR), you can sell it any way you want: the “normal” way but also you can put it on eBay and other auction sites, you can add it to Dime Sales or Fire Sales, can use it as a bonus, you can bundle it with other products, etc.

This is commonly used with Private Label Rights to give essentially unlimited rights to the product.

Beware though that sometimes products “unrestricted” rights come with some actual restrictions. An example would be an Unrestricted PLR (UPLR) product that restricts you from claiming copyright.

Conclusion

Product rights can be confusing and surprisingly complex.

Understanding the basics of what each type of rights provides you will help you in making sure the products you do get match the needs you have for them.

Remember though that these rights categories just provide a general basis for the actual rights you will get. The ultimate rights are explicitly defined with the rights license you get when you acquire the product; be sure to read and understand that license.

I am providing a handy chart for you to keep track of all the various rights, click here to download it.

Future blog posts will go into detail about the primary rights: what they are, why you would want them and how to use them.

“A large post, often used as supporting architecture.”

That is the definition of a pillar I found online just now.

That says it well!-

If you didn’t read my blog post where I introduced the 3 Pillars of Success you won’t know what I mean when I talk about the 3 Pillars of Success and how they are the ONLY things you need to succeed and how they guarantee success.

You should go read it now because a lot of what I do and say over the next year or two will be clearer by understanding the Pillars.

Remember that each of the Pillars is important, none more than another, because you need all three to have true and lasting success.

The Product Pillar

The Product Pillar is the Pillar that, in many ways, is…
the foundation Pillar.

This is because, without the Product Pillar, there is no need for the other Pillars; having them is completely worthless without the Product Pillar.

Stated simply:

A strong Product Pillar requires you to have enough quality Product that people are interested in buying to sustain the business over the long-term.

In some rare case, you may have only one Product but in the vast majority of cases you will need to continually have more Products; without that you can have some initial success or be a “one hit wonder” but you haven’t built a life changing business.

Before I go on, let me be clear though when I talk about the Product Pillar. I am talking about have Products; a steady stream of them over time.

But… when I use the term Product it has lots of meanings.

Here are some examples of what I mean when I say Products:

1. Digital products you have created yourself (or have created specifically for you)

2. Digital products you own and have Resell Rights and, possibly, Private Label Rights; Giveaway Rights too.

3. Digital services you provide

4. Digital products for which you are an affiliate

5-8. Physical products of all the above

As you can see the options for products are huge.

This is good for you as you’ll be able to have a stream of products.

This is bad for you because you need to make sure you don’t lose focus or market Products that won’t sell well.

The 3 Criteria of a Strong Product Pillar

There are 3 success criteria to keep in mind though if you expect to get a strong Product Pillar, your Products must:

1. Have a Market of Ready and Willing Buyers

First, and most importantly, you MUST have products people want to buy. Without that you cannot achieve even a weak Pillar.

This can take some time and research but is well worth it. Do this right and don’t rush through this. Remember the saying “act in haste, regret at your leisure.”

If you don’t know how to do that don’t worry, we’ll be looking at, in the upcoming months, how to find the right products until you’re almost sick of it

2. Be of a level of Quality that Greatly Exceeds What Your Buyers Expect

After you know what products people are buying you need to make sure the Products you are selling are Quality products.

Unless you are Saks, Neiman Marcus or Lord & Taylor, these products don’t have to be the absolute best quality but the value of what you provide (and quality is one measure of value) must be exceptional for what you are charging, whether what you charge is $27 or $997.

Strive to provide a minimum value of 10 times the cost of product.

Beware of focusing on low price (and low quality) because that makes it very hard to succeed and even harder to maintain a business over time.

Most (all?) businesses that compete on price alone fail eventually, some a quick death and others a long slow death.

A Tale of Two Giants

Here is aside about the dangers of focusing on pricing and not changing with the times. It isn’t critical to our discussion but you might find it interesting, if not then skip down to the third criterion.

Let me give a good example from the past 10-15 years by looking at what happened to both K-mart and to Target.

Originally they both strong brands with low priced, average quality products. Over time they struggled because their margins were low and as competitors like Wal-Mart came in they had trouble making a profit with ever lowering prices.

Their reputations dropped.

Basically, the only people who shopped at their stores were either people with very little money or people who we very frugal (sometimes foolishly so).

Eventually it got so bad that they were in danger of going out of business.

Target decided to change their focus, their quality and their reputation and, after years of hard work, Target is now enjoying great success.

K-mart, on the other hand, tried to remain what they were and, not unexpectedly, got the same results they had been getting or worse.

Eventually, Sears bought them but that’s hurt Sears more than anything else.

Why the different results?

First you need to know that companies, including your company, even if your company is just you, develop a brand.

The basis of a company’s brand is this: a promise to it’s customers to deliver it’s Products at a certain level of quality.

Eventually, a brand becomes the public perception of how well the company has delivered on it’s promise. In addition, it’s a promise that the experience it provided to it’s customers in the past will be provided to them in the future.

Good experience within expectations, good brand. Bad experience, bad brand.

The problem is that times change. New competitors come into the market, new attitudes are introduced, economic swings happen, catastrophic events play a part and all this means a company must reinvent itself on a periodic basis to keep up with changes in consumer tastes and competitive activity; this reinvigorates the brand and keeps sales growth happening.

Standing still is not a good way to keep a business alive!

This is where Kmart failed.

First, they started out competing on price alone, never a winning long-term solution.

Then their brand started to weaken as quality suffered and customer experience went from adequate to bad.

Their sales started dropping, causing further drops in quality and customer satisfaction and yet their executives just “kept on keepin’ on”, like they knew better than the marketplace, and bankruptcy was the result.

Target on the other hand looked at what was happening, took stock of themselves and decided on a change.

They no longer compete on price alone. They improved their quality and raised their prices.

They also worked hard on changing the perception of their company from one who provides almost shoddy products at rock bottom prices to a company with decent to good quality and great value for the money.

The key shift was the move from great prices to great value.

The focus went from price to experience.

Do not miss that important point, the focus went from price to experience (and value).

To be successful, long-term, you MUST focus on providing great value and customer experience. It really doesn’t matter what the price is, within reason.

Why pay 3, 4 or 5 times more for a cup of coffee at Starbucks? Not the coffee and not the price but the value of the experience.

So you need to have the expected level of quality in every product or your reputation, and maybe your business, will suffer greatly.

3. Have enough new products over time.

The third criterion you need for success is to have a continuous supply of products.

Having just one or just a few products may get you some success but it isn’t the type of life changing, lifelong success that the Product Pillar is all about.

If you look at virtually all successful companies online or offline they are always coming out with new products to sell to their existing customers as well as to attract new customers.

Focus on one desirable, quality product at a time, make it successful, get it on autopilot and do that again and again and you will have a mountain of a Product Pillar.

The Bottom Line (pun intended!)

To sum up, success in the Product Pillar requires a never ending stream of high quality, high value products. Nothing more and nothing less.

We’ll be discussing this again in the future and going deep into Products and how to achieve a super strength Product Pillar.

Add any comments, questions, feedback, disagreements and anything else below.

Previously we looked at the basics of Resell Rights products, what they are, what to look for, what to be careful from and where to get them.

Now that you’ve got some cool, products customers will “die for” it is time for “the show”, the reason you purchased the product in the first place.

TIME TO SELL!!!!!!

How to Get Started

Well, you need to have some things ready and done before you can sell. You need:

1. A Packaged Product

This may seem like “What? I just purchased a packaged product”. I thought the same also.

But I found that I liked to repackage the product to organize it better, to add my own rights license (which is usually better than the included one) and even add some additional things like a sales page or
instructions.

Your choice, but either way it all starts with a package.

2. Rights License

Hey, speaking of the rights license, you gotta decide what rights you are going to give to your customers. This decision is driven by the rights you own and your current goals for the product.

The advantage of “giving up” more rights is that your product is more attractive and can command a higher price. Whether that means mo’ money for you changes with the situation.

The disadvantage is that you are creating competitors just hungry to “steal” your money. Of course, if you do a better job or you’re looking short term you might say “bring it on!” It can increase the amount of buzz over a product increasing what everyone gets

Before you ask, “so what should I do?”

Let me say, again, “it depends”.

My advice, look at what you are trying to accomplish with a product and “give away” as much as you can. Your goals could be anything from short-term profit to list building to a long-term business with the product to viral marketing to …

Ultimately, you’ll only win by giving away as much as you can.

3. “Gimme the Money!”

You won’t get any money if you don’t have a way to collect it.

You need a “payment processor”.

An easy and inexpensive way is to sign up for a free PayPal account. You then put the PayPal button on you sales page and when people purchase it goes to your PayPal account.

PayPal has some security issues which I’ve talked in my e-mails but it it generally quick, easy and reliable. Despite its negatives, some people base their entire business on just using PayPal.

There are many other options, Clickbank, 1ShoppingCart, PayDotCom, 2Checkout, etc. so this part shouldn’t be hard to take care of (nice to know isn’t it).

4. Sales Page

A sales page is your “salesperson”, it greets your visitors and tries to get them to purchase your product.

Usually this comes with your Resell Rights products but if it doesn’t you must have one.

One idea is to try creating a cool video sales page instead of (or in addition to) a “normal” sales page

5. A Storefront

You need to have a place for people to come and read your sales page; the options here are many.

You could have a Web site, you could use a blog (even one of the free one) and it’s actually possible to do it strictly via e-mail but this is a much harder sell and restricts the traffic you can get.

But you need someplace to “sell from” and put your payment button.

“I’m Set Up, Now What?”

1. Get Your Product Online

First, you’ve got to get everything on the Net. Do this via FTP or via your hosting company’s file management capability (like CPanel’s File Manager).

2. Get Traffic

Then, you’ve got to get customers to your “store”; that is, get traffic.

This is such an important issue that I’m creating a completely other blog just for this topic.

Briefly, there are many ways to get traffic. You can purchase traffic (pay-per-click, like Google AdWords), you can use social bookmarking and networking sites, you can use video and audio, you can use articles, and much more.

I don’t want to dwell on traffic a lot here, look for my other blog soon, but among other places you can get information is in my 8-8-8 Sale Traffic Package and Traffic Success Pack which gives you some good traffic information as well as some actual products you can sell!

3. Build Your List

I would STRONGLY SUGGEST — I can’t emphasize this enough — to start building a list.

This isn’t really “required” but just sign up for an AWeber account (or one of its competitors) and capture the name and e-mail address (or at least the e-mail address) of your customers and prospects. Note, I personally would shy away from iContact because of how they handle issues (I had a REALLY bad experience with them).

This could be the critical factor in your ultimate success.

What Else?

That is really the basics, sure there are details but focus your actions on achieving those things; just get them done and you’ll be way ahead.

Okay, this “beginner’s guide” is done.

In the future we’ll look at issues, new products, have more in depth looks at specific topics and anything else related to Resell Rights products.

Talk soon,

P.S. I recently got this unrestricted PLR product called “Firesale Profits Revealed”. Since we just talked about fire sales last time, I thought it would be a good gift for you. You can learn something and you can have a product you can literally do anything you want with — there’s even a sales letter! I will tell you that in places the English needs some work so you should spend a little time, should be no more than an hour, cleaning that up; it is certainly readable as it is but just a little “off” a signal it wasn’t written by someone from the “English” countries, primarily, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, U.K. and the U.S. Take it and make your life better! Oh yeah, get it here!

Hi,

There are LOTS of places to find resell rights products but, as mentioned last time, you have to be careful what you get and from whom; lots of good people out there but lots of scammers also.

At the beginning, I made all the mistakes I warned you about previously (those things I said didn’t come from book learnin’ that’s for sure).

I was a ripe newbie ready to be plucked and plucked I was.

I accumulated gigabytes of worthless crap before I wised up.

So, here are some places where it is “safe” to purchase…

Warrior Forum Special Offers (WSO)

If you don’t know about the Warrior Forum you need to.

Lots of cool people there, with the normal assortment of “problem children.”

It’s a great community, though, and has a lot of free information on internet marketing.

http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/

Many times you can get Resell Rights products before the actual product launch!

This means nobody’s really seen the products and it will be easier to sell.

Another good thing about the Warrior Forum is that you get to “know” the personalities and which people have good stuff and which people can be trusted.

Giveaways

Participating in giveaways can be okay to build a list. Some people swear by them but many don’t get much out of them.

But, it is a place to get some free Resell Rights products.

Sure, they aren’t the best quality but you can usually find a few things you can use as a giveaway on your squeeze page or as bonuses.

Definitely worth checking out, particularly if you a newer to Internet Marketing and don’t have a lot of Resell Rights products.

Fire Sales

A “fire sale” is the sale of goods at extremely discounted prices; sometimes it’s called a blowout sale.

Basically, it is a sales promotion where the products are put on sale at “insane” prices.

Like giveaways, in the Internet Marketing world fire sales frequently have many people contributing products.

The products are sold for a very low prices and gradually over time the price rises. The rise might happen every few days or even much more frequently.

These are definitely worth looking into if you are looking for Resell Rights products because you can usually have a lot of options and the quality tends to be better than giveaways because people must pay something to get the products.

If you are reading this close to when it is written (November 7, 2008) there is a big fire sale about to start at http://biggestfiresale.com/, definitely check it out a lot of quality people are participating.

Membership Sites

You can also join membership sites that offer Resell Rights and Private Label Rights products.

These membership sites usually charge a monthly fee, generally $27-$97, and each month you are provided with books, software, “ready-to-go” businesses, videos, audio, templates — that is, whatever the site specializes in.

Membership sites are great because someone basically does all the work of locating quality resell rights products for you, all you have to do is download them.

You also can be assured of a constant supply of new products to sell to your customers.

There are sites that target general Internet Marketing and there are sites that target specific niches.

Some membership sites provide lots of stuff each month for their members and some provide just a few things.

Some let you download everything all the time and some only let you download what is new in any particular month; for those generally if you miss a month then you cannot get it later.

While the download everything all the time seems good it can actually hurt the members because someone could come in, download everything, and then quit and they got what you’ve been paying for months to get for, at worst, the cost of one month’s membership.

Some membership sites let you continue to use and sell their products after you quit and some remove your license. That is, you can only use it and sell it while you are a member.

There really are a lot of sites out there, many of marginal quality or with weird restrictions.

Look for some specific recommendations in a future post.

Newsletters

Some newsletters frequently offer Resell Rights products to their subscribers; often at no cost. Here are some directories where you can find newsletters for just about any topic you can think of:

www.enewstandonline.com

www.ezinefinder.com

www.ezinehub.com

www.ezinelocater.com

www.newsletteraccess.com

Join a number of newsletters, 10-20, for niches and topics you are targeting.

One note though, don’t use your regular e-mail address. I use one specially created for newsletters, you can just go create a Hotmail or GMail account for that purpose.

This makes it easy (and painless!) to get rid of the e-mail address if you start getting a lot of spam.

Trusted Sites

There are a number of people online selling Resell Rights products that provide good quality and value for your money.

These are usually individuals or small companies who specialize in this type of thing and constantly have new products they are promoting, frequently once or twice a week.

In addition to my www.8-8-8Sale.com which provides a monthly sale (on the 8th of the month) where I sell 8 Resell Rights products for a total investment of $8.88, there are others who I have found to be honestand trustworthy and who provide good value.

Check out:

eBay

If you are looking for something really cheap and aren’t as concerned with the quality and restrictions then you can find thousands of Resell Rights products on eBay for no more than a buck or two.

Be aware but there are products for any number of niches although, not surprisingly, most of the products offered on eBay are in the Internet Marketing niche.

Wrap It Up

Well, those sources should keep you busy for a while

Also, remember that just because Resell Rights products have been in circulation for a while doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t make money with them.

There are millions of new people looking for products who know nothing about them. As long as the quality is good, the information is current and true and the market is there you can, like so many others, make some nice money selling Resell Rights products.

We’ll conclude or look at Resell Rights next time with a look at making money with the products you’ve invested in.

P.S. Not that you can go invest in Resell Rights products the question frequently is, “how do I upload my product to my server.” I’m glad you asked… I’m putting together a set of videos to help you focus on the important stuff and one of them is “How To Upload Files To Your Hosting Account”, click here to download it.

P.P.S. Oh yeah, the video comes with unrestricted Private Label and Master Resell Rights so you can sell it, edit it, use it as a bonus, put it on your Web site or whatever else you want to do.

In my opinion, resell rights products are absolutely one of the quickest and easiest ways to make some money online.

I’ve said it before but it is worth repeating because there is still a lot of people really dissing it.

Since MOST successful people started that way the facts say otherwise but… well, what can I say, some people…

Sure resell rights products can be WAY over-hyped, sometimes to the level of deception, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good thing to do. On to the good stuff.

What to Look For

In previous posts, I talked about what you’d really gotta have when you getting resell rights products to sell to your customers.

In short you want:

A quality product to sell

A well done sales page

Other sales material

BUT… Is that it? Get that and you’ll be calling that Beverly Hills real estate agent? Hardly? Now, put that phone down and read on. Here’s what to do BEFORE buying…

1. Anyone Interested

Do some keyword research on keywords (what else?) related to the product.

Go to Google’s free tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal or the free WordTracker tool at http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/.

If you find a market all hot for solution you’re looking to provide, that is, a good number of searches for terms you related to the resell rights product, then things are looking good.

Now, go to Google Trends and see how those important keywords have been doing over time. You don’t want any “fad of the day” stuff (unless you are trying to tap into that fad for short term profit).

Does the market look “frosty” (not a lot of searches) then it is walk, no run, away from it. You can try the more investigation in case the topic/product is “weird” but the likelihood is that it would be a hard product to sell.

2. Anyone Buying?

Now that you have found some positive signs you need to see if those people who are searching are actually buying.

People “looking who ain’t buying” aren’t your kind of person; you want people with lots of cash to spend.

There are several ways to get a sense of you’re seeing buyers or “loiterers”.

First, go to Google and do a search on hot keywords you found. Now, this is what you want to see in the results:

How many AdWords ads do you see on the right and very top (look through multiple pages of results)? If you find lots of them then people are likely to be buying; and that is good for you!

Look at the actual “organic” search results and see if you find people selling the same product as what you are considering purchasing. Look at the sales pages and see what they look like. Look at what they’re selling the product for. Note the similarities and the differences.

Now, go to Clickbank and look for products that might be your “competitors”. Look for:

How many products are there like the one you’re looking at?

How close are they to the product that you are looking at?

How many sales are they getting? Look at their gravity to get a rough sense of this — it isn’t 100% accurate but it is a rough comparison to other Clickbank products.

Also, look at http://www.cb-analytics.com to see some analysis of the Clickbank products over time.

3. Does it Have the Rights You Need?

You need to understand what the EXACT rights you are getting along with the product. This is super important because no matter how many people are buying,

if you don’t have rights to sell it, then it is worthless product to you. Always be on this like, well … be on it!

However, there is a problem.

Most sales pages (and even some products) do not tell you the exact rights you get and it is common to purchase products that you can’t actually use the way you planned to.

Sure, they’ll tell you that it comes with Master Resell Rights (MRR) or Private Label Rights (PLR) but the variations within how those terms are used are so great that it becomes almost worthless

4. How Many Copies Are Available?

Most resell rights products don’t limit the number of copies they will sell. Is this important?

Well, here it comes… it depends.

At best, about 2% of the people who buy a product actually sell it so it isn’t as important as you might think.

But, for certain products, or for products that have been around for a while, this can dilute the market making it harder to sell.

Having lots of people selling something can be a real advantage if you can differentiate yourself and provide some real unique value though.

Not something “newbies” or “lazies” usually do but something for you to aim for.

What to Watch Out For?

Other than making sure there is a market there’s not much you can watch out for because you can’t actually see and touch the product before you buy it.

However, be careful of those deals that are “too good to be true.” You know, those deals where you get 250 “new” products for $27 (well they were new in 2004

This might sound strange coming from me given my monthly 8-8-8Sale.com sale where you can get 8 rights products for only $8.88 (available for 88 hours and 8 minutes).

I buy and use mostly resell rights products in my sales, but I try to screen them for quality and I buy and reject a lot more products that I sell.

And those are truly limited time sales, afterwards they sell for $37 and sell at that price (just last week I earned almost $400 from that site and I don’t really do any promotion).

Anyway, not everyone is so conscientious and, to be blunt, they are just trying to get your cash. So, as they say, it’s Buyer Beware.

In general, there are 4 primary reasons how you can get ripped off:

The quality is bad (to be polite!)

The product is “stolen”. By that I mean they don’t have the proper rights to sell the product to you. Which means you don’t have the rights to sell it either.

The product is outdated. I don’t mean old. Being old is not necessarily being outdated. A product that was released 6 months ago can be outdated. Being old isn’t bad, being outdated is.

You didn’t get the rights you need (and were promised).

What Can You Do to Protect Yourself?

Look for that 100% money back guarantee and ask for refunds (and hope you get them!) if you don’t like what you get.

Get the exact rights before you purchase. Some people, like myself, show you the licensed rights directly on the sales page. If you don’t see that then write to them and ask for it.

Buy from reputable sources.

Look for reviews and forum comments on the product and the Web site you are purchasing from. Lots of complaints over time means something is wrong (make sure the complaints are current though).

Testimonials can help but they some are fake. I learned this in a “past life” when I had involvement with very large product launches for very large companies using very large advertising agencies. It was just given and accepted that the testimonials would be made up by the ad agencies with approval from the company.

Are There Exceptions?

My products (8-8-8 Sale and others) are exceptions.

You’re saying “Sure, of course you’ll say that. How shamelessly self-serving.” That doesn’t negate the truth though.

Other people that I have found who seem honest from my experience with them and that provide very good value for the money are: Todd Gross, Ken Reno, the W-cube’s (Wacky Wednesday women), the Champigny’s, Matthew Griffin, Greg’s Frugal Friday and a few others I don’t recall right now. We’ll look more into this next time.

The Bottom Line

Use resell rights to earn money and grow your business but be careful.

Make sure there is an actual market of buyers for the product.

Make sure you get the rights you need.

Make sure you can get traffic to your site.

Don’t be shy to ask for a refund if the product isn’t for you.

Next time we’ll look at some places where to get resell rights products.

P.S. I have a free video on how to create a secure download area using CPanel; now that you’re going to be making money with resell products you need an easy way to protect the download directory so people don’t steal your products. So click that link and get your totally unrestricted PLR and MRR video right now!
