In fact, other than being an affiliate for other people products there is no easier way or more popular way to start an online business.

Resell Rights can be a great way to make a steady income because they are ready-made “out-of-the-box” products that you can sell and you keep 100% of the profits (you don’t have to pay the original author any type of royalties).

Most successful Internet Marketers make their livings selling information products online because they know that selling e-books and other digital products is a relatively easy way to make a consistent income.

While the convenience of having your own products you can sell is great, there are ways of doing it right and ways of doing it wrong and one can lead to success and one can lead to failure.

We’re going to look what Resell Rights products are, why you’d want them and how to use them properly.

Don’t worry, it’s all easy to understand and in just a few minutes from now you’ll know just about everything you need to know about them and how to use them to make money.

What Are Resell Rights?

Basically, Resell Rights are fully created products that allow you to sell the product as your own and to keep all the profits you make from your sales.

The way it works is you get a copy of the product and frequently a sales page (with accompanying graphics) along with a license that allows you to sell the product, “as is”.

That means, of course, that you can’t make changes to the product but you can make changes to sales page, or create your own.

Unlike with promoting someone else’s products, you will also need some place on the Internet to put and sell the product. This can be your own Web hosting account and domain name or one of those free places (the free places are not generally recommended though).

When you buy your Resell Rights product you must read the license as they frequently have rules that tell you what you can and cannot do with the product.

Some examples, the license might include a minimum price you must sell the product for (this helps to keep the value and profits of the product higher) or it might say you can give away the product for free but you can add it as a bonus to another paid product.

One thing you do not get with Resell Rights is the rights to give your customers resell rights; that is called Master Resell Rights.

The license terms are as varied as there are people selling them so be sure to read your license, preferably before you buy the product!

Why You’d Want to Use Resell Rights

You can get Resell Rights to just about any type of digital product (and to some physical products), including reports, digital books/e-books, software, digital course and even a series Twitter tweets.

One real advantage is that you don’t spend your time and money creating products (this can cost thousands of dollars), you spend it promoting your products and reaping the same rewards you’d get if you had created them yourself – it seems almost dishonest doesn’t it

I went online and Googled to see if I could get a rough guesstimate of how many Resell Rights products are just in a few popular niches. I gave up when I was up to several hundred thousands products, and there are hundreds of niches.

Think of it, probably millions of resell rights products are available to you, think of how many streams of income you could have.

Say you’ve got resell rights to a product and you were able to sell just one every week at $27, doesn’t sound like it should be that hard.

At the end of the year you’d have made $27 times 52 weeks or $1,404 – you won’t retire on that but it’s still nice to have and you didn’t have to do much work other than the few minutes it takes to get the product and put it online.

Now do that just 11 more times and you are making $1,404 every month not every year (that’s $ 16,848 every year).

Now do that 4 more times and you’re making $1,404 almost every week – a whopping $73,008 every year without you doing much work.

And there is no limit to how many times you can do it.

Just think if you were able to sell 2 every week instead of 1, you would double those numbers and, how about selling one every day, just imagine that!

So, why would you want to use Resell Rights products?

They can be wildly lucrative.

I personally know about a dozen people who are making multiple 6-figure incomes each year just from selling resell rights products and have heard of people making 7-figures.

Really, do you need any other reason?

Sure they can build your list, sure they can help improve your reputation and make you well known, but the bottom line is you want them to make you money and they can do that.

How to Benefit from Resell Rights Products

You can take Resell Rights products and do the following.

Sell It and Make Money

Sell Resell Rights products to add an additional source of income to your business. I think you understand that one by now and, after all, they are call reSELL rights products!

Build Your List

Every time you sell something you should be adding the customer to at least one of your lists. Some people don’t but this is very foolish, don’t do it!

Use as a Bonus

Most resell rights products let you include the product as a bonus when selling other products.

This lets you make money directly from the Resell Rights product but also increases your sales for some of your other products because their value goes up by the inclusion of the bonus products.

Add It to a Membership Site

Add the product to a paid membership site. This, obviously, enhances the value of the membership site so you’ll get and retain more members making you additional recurring income (that is, income you get month after month).

Let Affiliates Promote It

Create an affiliate program or just put it on ClickBank or PayDotCom and let affiliates promote the product for you.

While you won’t get as much money for each sale from an affiliate you don’t have to find customers and the sales may well be ones you never would have gotten.

They also become your customers so you can market other product to them,

Submit to Giveaway Events

Sometimes you can submit Resell Rights products to giveaway events (if they allow them, some will and some won’t).

This is an easy way to gain the benefits of list building without doing a lot of additional work, but make sure you have the rights to include the product in giveaway events.

Making the Most of Resell Rights Products

The key to using resell rights products is to differentiate yourself from everyone else selling the same product.

Since you can’t change the product itself you need to change everything else.

Create a new sales page and use new and different graphics.

Change the bonus products, including adding new relevant bonuses and removing existing bonuses.

Some people also change the name of the product which can work out well but some people don’t like doing it because it can cause problems and some people feel it is dishonest.

The key to selling Resell Rights products is generating targeted traffic so differentiate yourself and get lots the right traffic and you’ll do well.

Conclusion

Resell Rights products, products that you are allowed to sell them and keep 100% of the profits, can be a great way to quickly and easily get products and start or increase an online business.

Now that you’ve got some cool, products customers will “die for” it is time for “the show”, the reason you purchased the product in the first place.

TIME TO SELL!!!!!!

How to Get Started

Well, you need to have some things ready and done before you can sell. You need:

1. A Packaged Product

This may seem like “What? I just purchased a packaged product”. I thought the same also.

But I found that I liked to repackage the product to organize it better, to add my own rights license (which is usually better than the included one) and even add some additional things like a sales page or
instructions.

Your choice, but either way it all starts with a package.

2. Rights License

Hey, speaking of the rights license, you gotta decide what rights you are going to give to your customers. This decision is driven by the rights you own and your current goals for the product.

The advantage of “giving up” more rights is that your product is more attractive and can command a higher price. Whether that means mo’ money for you changes with the situation.

The disadvantage is that you are creating competitors just hungry to “steal” your money. Of course, if you do a better job or you’re looking short term you might say “bring it on!” It can increase the amount of buzz over a product increasing what everyone gets

Before you ask, “so what should I do?”

Let me say, again, “it depends”.

My advice, look at what you are trying to accomplish with a product and “give away” as much as you can. Your goals could be anything from short-term profit to list building to a long-term business with the product to viral marketing to …

Ultimately, you’ll only win by giving away as much as you can.

3. “Gimme the Money!”

You won’t get any money if you don’t have a way to collect it.

You need a “payment processor”.

An easy and inexpensive way is to sign up for a free PayPal account. You then put the PayPal button on you sales page and when people purchase it goes to your PayPal account.

PayPal has some security issues which I’ve talked in my e-mails but it it generally quick, easy and reliable. Despite its negatives, some people base their entire business on just using PayPal.

There are many other options, Clickbank, 1ShoppingCart, PayDotCom, 2Checkout, etc. so this part shouldn’t be hard to take care of (nice to know isn’t it).

4. Sales Page

A sales page is your “salesperson”, it greets your visitors and tries to get them to purchase your product.

Usually this comes with your Resell Rights products but if it doesn’t you must have one.

One idea is to try creating a cool video sales page instead of (or in addition to) a “normal” sales page

5. A Storefront

You need to have a place for people to come and read your sales page; the options here are many.

You could have a Web site, you could use a blog (even one of the free one) and it’s actually possible to do it strictly via e-mail but this is a much harder sell and restricts the traffic you can get.

But you need someplace to “sell from” and put your payment button.

“I’m Set Up, Now What?”

1. Get Your Product Online

First, you’ve got to get everything on the Net. Do this via FTP or via your hosting company’s file management capability (like CPanel’s File Manager).

2. Get Traffic

Then, you’ve got to get customers to your “store”; that is, get traffic.

This is such an important issue that I’m creating a completely other blog just for this topic.

Briefly, there are many ways to get traffic. You can purchase traffic (pay-per-click, like Google AdWords), you can use social bookmarking and networking sites, you can use video and audio, you can use articles, and much more.

I don’t want to dwell on traffic a lot here, look for my other blog soon, but among other places you can get information is in my 8-8-8 Sale Traffic Package and Traffic Success Pack which gives you some good traffic information as well as some actual products you can sell!

3. Build Your List

I would STRONGLY SUGGEST — I can’t emphasize this enough — to start building a list.

This isn’t really “required” but just sign up for an AWeber account (or one of its competitors) and capture the name and e-mail address (or at least the e-mail address) of your customers and prospects. Note, I personally would shy away from iContact because of how they handle issues (I had a REALLY bad experience with them).

This could be the critical factor in your ultimate success.

What Else?

That is really the basics, sure there are details but focus your actions on achieving those things; just get them done and you’ll be way ahead.

Selling Resell Rights Products

There are LOTS of places to find resell rights products but, as mentioned last time, you have to be careful what you get and from whom; lots of good people out there but lots of scammers also.

At the beginning, I made all the mistakes I warned you about previously (those things I said didn’t come from book learnin’ that’s for sure).

I was a ripe newbie ready to be plucked and plucked I was.

I accumulated gigabytes of worthless crap before I wised up.

So, here are some places where it is “safe” to purchase…

Warrior Forum Special Offers (WSO)

If you don’t know about the Warrior Forum you need to.

Lots of cool people there, with the normal assortment of “problem children.”

It’s a great community, though, and has a lot of free information on internet marketing.

Many times you can get Resell Rights products before the actual product launch!

This means nobody’s really seen the products and it will be easier to sell.

Another good thing about the Warrior Forum is that you get to “know” the personalities and which people have good stuff and which people can be trusted.

Giveaways

Participating in giveaways can be okay to build a list. Some people swear by them but many don’t get much out of them.

But, it is a place to get some free Resell Rights products.

Sure, they aren’t the best quality but you can usually find a few things you can use as a giveaway on your squeeze page or as bonuses.

Definitely worth checking out, particularly if you a newer to Internet Marketing and don’t have a lot of Resell Rights products.

Fire Sales

A “fire sale” is the sale of goods at extremely discounted prices; sometimes it’s called a blowout sale.

Basically, it is a sales promotion where the products are put on sale at “insane” prices.

Like giveaways, in the Internet Marketing world fire sales frequently have many people contributing products.

The products are sold for a very low prices and gradually over time the price rises. The rise might happen every few days or even much more frequently.

These are definitely worth looking into if you are looking for Resell Rights products because you can usually have a lot of options and the quality tends to be better than giveaways because people must pay something to get the products.

Membership Sites

You can also join membership sites that offer Resell Rights and Private Label Rights products.

These membership sites usually charge a monthly fee, generally $27-$97, and each month you are provided with books, software, “ready-to-go” businesses, videos, audio, templates — that is, whatever the site specializes in.

Membership sites are great because someone basically does all the work of locating quality resell rights products for you, all you have to do is download them.

You also can be assured of a constant supply of new products to sell to your customers.

There are sites that target general Internet Marketing and there are sites that target specific niches.

Some membership sites provide lots of stuff each month for their members and some provide just a few things.

Some let you download everything all the time and some only let you download what is new in any particular month; for those generally if you miss a month then you cannot get it later.

While the download everything all the time seems good it can actually hurt the members because someone could come in, download everything, and then quit and they got what you’ve been paying for months to get for, at worst, the cost of one month’s membership.

Some membership sites let you continue to use and sell their products after you quit and some remove your license. That is, you can only use it and sell it while you are a member.

There really are a lot of sites out there, many of marginal quality or with weird restrictions.

Look for some specific recommendations in a future post.

Newsletters

Some newsletters frequently offer Resell Rights products to their subscribers; often at no cost. Here are some directories where you can find newsletters for just about any topic you can think of:

• www.newsletteraccess.com

Join a number of newsletters, 10-20, for niches and topics you are targeting.

One note though, don’t use your regular e-mail address. I use one specially created for newsletters, you can just go create a Hotmail or GMail account for that purpose.

This makes it easy (and painless!) to get rid of the e-mail address if you start getting a lot of spam.

Trusted Sites

There are a number of people online selling Resell Rights products that provide good quality and value for your money.

These are usually individuals or small companies who specialize in this type of thing and constantly have new products they are promoting, frequently once or twice a week.

If you are looking for something really cheap and aren’t as concerned with the quality and restrictions then you can find thousands of Resell Rights products on eBay for no more than a buck or two.

Be aware but there are products for any number of niches although, not surprisingly, most of the products offered on eBay are in the Internet Marketing niche.

Wrap It Up

Well, those sources should keep you busy for a while

Also, remember that just because Resell Rights products have been in circulation for a while doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t make money with them.

There are millions of new people looking for products who know nothing about them. As long as the quality is good, the information is current and true and the market is there you can, like so many others, make some nice money selling Resell Rights products.

A Tour of the Mean Streets of Resell Rights: Where to Get Resell Rights Products

I’ve said it before but it is worth repeating because there is still a lot of people really dissing it.

Since MOST successful people started that way the facts say otherwise but… well, what can I say, some people…

Sure resell rights products can be WAY over-hyped, sometimes to the level of deception, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good thing to do. On to the good stuff.

What to Look For

In previous posts, I talked about what you’d really gotta have when you getting resell rights products to sell to your customers.

In short you want:

1. A quality product to sell
2. A well done sales page
3. Other sales material

BUT… Is that it? Get that and you’ll be calling that Beverly Hills real estate agent? Hardly? Now, put that phone down and read on. Here’s what to do BEFORE buying…

1. Anyone Interested

Do some keyword research on keywords (what else?) related to the product.

Go to Google’s free tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal or the free WordTracker tool at http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/.

If you find a market all hot for solution you’re looking to provide, that is, a good number of searches for terms you related to the resell rights product, then things are looking good.

Now, go to Google Trends and see how those important keywords have been doing over time. You don’t want any “fad of the day” stuff (unless you are trying to tap into that fad for short term profit).

Does the market look “frosty” (not a lot of searches) then it is walk, no run, away from it. You can try the more investigation in case the topic/product is “weird” but the likelihood is that it would be a hard product to sell.

2. Anyone Buying?

Now that you have found some positive signs you need to see if those people who are searching are actually buying.

People “looking who ain’t buying” aren’t your kind of person; you want people with lots of cash to spend.

There are several ways to get a sense of you’re seeing buyers or “loiterers”.

First, go to Google and do a search on hot keywords you found. Now, this is what you want to see in the results:

• How many AdWords ads do you see on the right and very top (look through multiple pages of results)? If you find lots of them then people are likely to be buying; and that is good for you!
• Look at the actual “organic” search results and see if you find people selling the same product as what you are considering purchasing. Look at the sales pages and see what they look like. Look at what they’re selling the product for. Note the similarities and the differences.

Now, go to Clickbank and look for products that might be your “competitors”. Look for:

• How many products are there like the one you’re looking at?
• How close are they to the product that you are looking at?
• How many sales are they getting? Look at their gravity to get a rough sense of this — it isn’t 100% accurate but it is a rough comparison to other Clickbank products.
• Also, look at http://www.cb-analytics.com to see some analysis of the Clickbank products over time.

3. Does it Have the Rights You Need?

You need to understand what the EXACT rights you are getting along with the product. This is super important because no matter how many people are buying,

if you don’t have rights to sell it, then it is worthless product to you. Always be on this like, well … be on it!

However, there is a problem.

Most sales pages (and even some products) do not tell you the exact rights you get and it is common to purchase products that you can’t actually use the way you planned to.

Sure, they’ll tell you that it comes with Master Resell Rights (MRR) or Private Label Rights (PLR) but the variations within how those terms are used are so great that it becomes almost worthless

4. How Many Copies Are Available?

Most resell rights products don’t limit the number of copies they will sell. Is this important?

Well, here it comes… it depends.

At best, about 2% of the people who buy a product actually sell it so it isn’t as important as you might think.

But, for certain products, or for products that have been around for a while, this can dilute the market making it harder to sell.

Having lots of people selling something can be a real advantage if you can differentiate yourself and provide some real unique value though.

Not something “newbies” or “lazies” usually do but something for you to aim for.

What to Watch Out For?

Other than making sure there is a market there’s not much you can watch out for because you can’t actually see and touch the product before you buy it.

However, be careful of those deals that are “too good to be true.” You know, those deals where you get 250 “new” products for $27 (well they were new in 2004

This might sound strange coming from me given my monthly 8-8-8Sale.com sale where you can get 8 rights products for only $8.88 (available for 88 hours and 8 minutes).

I buy and use mostly resell rights products in my sales, but I try to screen them for quality and I buy and reject a lot more products that I sell.

And those are truly limited time sales, afterwards they sell for $37 and sell at that price (just last week I earned almost $400 from that site and I don’t really do any promotion).

Anyway, not everyone is so conscientious and, to be blunt, they are just trying to get your cash. So, as they say, it’s Buyer Beware.

In general, there are 4 primary reasons how you can get ripped off:

1. The quality is bad (to be polite!)
2. The product is “stolen”. By that I mean they don’t have the proper rights to sell the product to you. Which means you don’t have the rights to sell it either.
3. The product is outdated. I don’t mean old. Being old is not necessarily being outdated. A product that was released 6 months ago can be outdated. Being old isn’t bad, being outdated is.
4. You didn’t get the rights you need (and were promised).

What Can You Do to Protect Yourself?

1. Look for that 100% money back guarantee and ask for refunds (and hope you get them!) if you don’t like what you get.
2. Get the exact rights before you purchase. Some people, like myself, show you the licensed rights directly on the sales page. If you don’t see that then write to them and ask for it.
3. Buy from reputable sources.
4. Look for reviews and forum comments on the product and the Web site you are purchasing from. Lots of complaints over time means something is wrong (make sure the complaints are current though).
5. Testimonials can help but they some are fake. I learned this in a “past life” when I had involvement with very large product launches for very large companies using very large advertising agencies. It was just given and accepted that the testimonials would be made up by the ad agencies with approval from the company.

Are There Exceptions?

My products (8-8-8 Sale and others) are exceptions.

You’re saying “Sure, of course you’ll say that. How shamelessly self-serving.” That doesn’t negate the truth though.

Other people that I have found who seem honest from my experience with them and that provide very good value for the money are: Todd Gross, Ken Reno, the W-cube’s (Wacky Wednesday women), the Champigny’s, Matthew Griffin, Greg’s Frugal Friday and a few others I don’t recall right now. We’ll look more into this next time.

The Bottom Line

Use resell rights to earn money and grow your business but be careful.

Make sure there is an actual market of buyers for the product.

Make sure you get the rights you need.

Make sure you can get traffic to your site.

Don’t be shy to ask for a refund if the product isn’t for you.

The 4-1-1 on Buying Resell Rights Products

With Private Label Rights (PLR) you get the actual “source” of product (the Microsoft Word file, the PHP source code, the AVI file, etc.) and usually get to (or must) put your name as the author.

Now just imagine what you could do with a bunch of, say, books that you “wrote” — ah, to be a published author. Fame, fortune, the good life… Lots of “your own” books and software and videos to sell and rake it in…

All of a sudden you’ve become attractive, your family is proud of you, you now connected, part of the “in crowd”, and money is no object… There is an emotional pull to PLR products that goes beyond what they actually are.

Rightly or wrongly having control of the product and being the author has a certain allure and appeal; giving PLR products a certain value above and beyond what they would be worth otherwise.

As you can expect then, Private Label Rights are frequently more expensive then any other type of rights since you change the product however you want, making it uniquely your own and differentiating you from others in the market.

But Buyer Beware

So you’re thinking, “Hey, that’s great. I can spend a little time and create a completely new product to sell. I’ll be rolling in it in no time”

Discounting the fact that people need to actually buy your product you will, well, you just might be wrong. PLR by itself does NOT let you actually sell the product, just change it. Even if it does have some resell right associated with it, a PLR product might have rights that are very restrictive and useless to you.

“What the…! I Can’t Sell It?!”

Don’t get me wrong…

Usually PLR products come with reasonable resell rights and frequently with Master Resell Rights (MRR) but I just want to make sure you understand that you can’t assume having PLR actually provides you with a sellable product. It confused me (still does sometimes) and confuses most people so I wanted to give you a heads up.

Oh, two things that are pretty common is that you cannot pass along/resell the Private Label Rights, and that you can’t use the initial author’s name.

What Do You Get?

This can be so different that I suggest you read my post on MRR (at About MRR) to learn what you must have and what would be good to have. In addition to what I say there, you will get the product source, as I mentioned above.

Depending upon the product you will get:

1. eBook: the editable document, usually in Microsoft Word format.
2. Graphics: the editable graphics, usually in Adobe Photoshop .PSD format.
3. Software: the editable source code, for server-based software this is probably the PHP, HTML, JS and CSS files. For desktop application it is typically the Java, C/C++/C# or the Visual Basic source code.
4. Video: the editable video file, usually the AVI files.

What else is there? Hmm, it’s all I can think of now. In a nutshell, that is all to PLR… As always read the license for the exact rights you receive and can pass on.

What Now?

Now that we’ve gone through MRR and PLR how ’bout looking at actually getting some rights products, let’s do that next time.

About Private Label Rights

After I couldn’t use my computer for 3 days, all the while making a stupid mistake on my Source Code Goldmine now delayed “product launch” (see my last post) — oops, I am not supposed to say that (last time I promise) and also trying to get 2 products out it has been a hectic time since my last “real” post about a week ago.

I’ve got a lot to say but I want to make sure I continue the brief “basics of resell rights” foundation I was talking about.

Where was I now, umm… I explained about the major types of rights you’ll find.

Okay, now I want to talk about the good, the bad and the ugly of Master Resell Rights (MRR).

As you might remember from my last post in this “series”, with master resell rights, the product’s creator does NOT allow you or anyone else to edit the content of the product and, to be brutally honest, the product is offered as basically “take it or leave it”.

This isn’t necessarily a major problem (or even a bad thing) if the quality is good but if it isn’t then you are pretty much stuck with it (other than return it for a refund).

In fact, MRR is a good thing. Sure, it would be great to customize your product so it was uniquely your own, that is, have Private Label Rights (PLR), but the truth of the matter is that most people do not make any changes whatsoever so paying for PLR is usually a waste of money.

(Note though, to differentiate yourself and provide added value it is always good to change and enhance you rights products — you well sell more)

Do be stupid like I was and DO NOT FORGET to be sure and READ the included license for the exact rights (read my last post about a mistake one can make without reading the license!)

Rights licenses can be pretty weird sometimes in what they allow and don’t allow (sometimes they even contradict themselves). When in doubt, contact the person who sold it to you and/or the creator and ask them.

What Do You Get?

What you get with an MRR product is so non-standard that let me tell you what you should except to get so you can easily make some money with your purchase.

A Product

Well duh

Without a product obviously you’ve go nothing you can actually use, but what I mean is you need a product of “sufficient” quality.

Unless you’re going after the “I want any old junk and I want it for free” market you’re going need to product that, well, that people would want.

You’re probably asking, “What does that mean?”

Can I give the standard cop out response? It depends.

It depends on the situation (target audience, methods of marketing, topic, etc.).

But “it depends” is not a very satisfying answer so let’s assume you are marketing to an “average” Internet Marketer.

When you are marketing to marketers you need to think of their customers, not them (your direct customers).

So you want a product that provides at least these things:

• It is clear and understandable. It should be well written using correct “native style” language (whatever the language is) if it is a book (you know what I mean ; it should easy to learn and use if it is software and it should be quality audio and video (without being hard to understand, again, I think you know what I mean).
• It provides value, at least as much as it costs to purchase it but it should provide WHOLE LOT more. What is value? It means that the purchasers is better off having purchased your product than before; the better off they are, the more value you are providing.
• It is current. No matter how kicka$$ the product is or how much a person has learned, if the information is outdated and no longer applicable, all that learnin’ is not helping them towards their personal goals. That is, after all, the reason they purchased in the first place.

A (Well Done) Sales Page

This is really more important than the product because even with a good product if you can’t make people understand its “goodness” in a way and language that convinces them to buy, you won’t make many sales.

The sales page needs to draw the person in, show them how it will personally make their life better in some way that is important to them (not to you the seller).

It should focus on the benefits not the features and answer all the questions that may stop a person from buying (things like value for the price, trust and credibiilty and risk avoidance).

Without a sales page then you’ll need to create one and, even if it doesn’t scare you, it isn’t a trivial task even for the best copywriters so you really want a sales page included.

Other Sales Material

A really nice to have are other sales material like graphics (buttons, banners, headers, 3-D product images), AdWords ads, e-mail, blog entries and more.

You will not usually find much of this, maybe a product image and a header or button or something.

But if you can get it, take it!

That should help you have a basic understanding of Master Resell Rights products. Of course, there’s a boatload more to know but it all begins with the stuff we talked about here.

But it points out the important of READING THE RIGHTS LICENSE FIRST!!

You see this weekend, around fighting my computer which decided not to work right after I installed the Microsoft updates, I created a sales page to sell the Source Code Goldmine products.

Just as I am about finished I am looking at the products and decide to read the Rights License.

I read in shock as I had violated almost everything I could violate with the Sales Page; at least I wasn’t selling them for Dime Store prices

So, now I need to create 10 separate sales pages — I’ve got tomorrow cut out for me!

The moral of the story: ALWAYS read the Rights License even when you are “sure” you know what it says.

Rights Lesson (Re)Learned

Let’s get to it…

Products bundled with resell rights are an easy and inexpensive way to get some cash online. “Yeah right. Uh huh.” Now, if you’ve tried selling resell rights products and failed you’re probably saying that. Despite that, it’s a very true statement. Resell rights products are second only to being an affiliate at generating quick bits of cash particularly for those without much money and experience. The problem isn’t with the resell rights products or the theories about what to do with them the problem is with you. I know because I was the problem when I started. I kept getting in the way of my success even though I was sure I was doing “everything right.” Don’t worry, there is a “cure” There is a misconception that resell rights products are really dead opportunities because there are so much of it and so many people are buying and selling the things; they believe you must have your own product to succeed. To that, I say… bu****it. There are a number of reasons why that isn’t true but, to me, the 2 major ones I see are:

1. The fact that “people (know how to) buy but they don’t (know how to) sell”
2. The fact that “people think and plan but they don’t act”

Fortunately, once you realize the problems there are simple ways around them that are much easier than creating new products, particularly for those less experiences or those light on cash. Don’t get me wrong, I think having your own products are great — I have some and am creating more — but a person can do pretty good solely with resell rights products if they know what to do and, this is a key point, actually do it. Some years ago, resell rights products were a lot more rare and expensive. I remember sometime in the early part of this decade, a little after 9/11 I think, that the resell rights for an e-book were hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars. Now, if you have the money and the list, those prices are still profitable but today resell rights products are almost always under $100, very commonly under $50 and it is quite common for them to be under $10. In fact, I currently sell 10 different packages of 8 products (almost exclusively with resell rights) for $37 a package (a bit over $4.50 per product) and you can get bundles of them for even less cost per product. (Anyone who wants a coupon to get 27% off — marketing speak for $10, in this case — just let me know) My monthly 8-8-8 Sale, on the 8th of every month, sells them for $1.11 per product. That wasn’t meant to be a shameless plug for my products (well, at least consciously it wasn’t but others like Frugal Friday, Wacky Wednesday, Ken Reno, Todd Gross, the Champignys, and others have inexpensive resell products. The point is that you can get an unending supply of resell rights products for relatively little money. Shoot, I bet you could average one new resell product a day for a month for $100. So why are people struggling if so much stuff is available… well, see above; buying and not doing (or doing the wrong things)

What Do All Those Different Rights Mean?

That is, what the different type of rights means and what can be done with them. Really good question and it was one of the things I found confusing. I wasted time and money because I didn’t understand that at the beginning; I just thought I did. Everyone made it so confusing and, to be honest, many people still make it confusing and difficult. The most common different types of resell rights licenses available online are:

• Resell Rights (RR)
• Master Resell Rights (MRR)
• Private Label Rights (PLR)
• Giveaway Rights (GR)

There are numerous other things like Branding Rights, Unrestricted Rights, etc. but the most common and the ones you want to focus on to make money are the above three. In a nutshell:

• Resell Rights usually means you can sell the product to others
• Master Resell Rights usually means that you have Resell Rights and can also sell those resell rights to others
• Private Label Rights usually means that you can edit the product and, most of the time, resell it too (beware here though that some PLR licenses say you can edit but you cannot sell — I’ve been burned by this a few times).
• Giveaway Rights usually means you can free give the product to others but not sell it; sometimes it is “brandable” meaning you can insert a few of your specifics into it (name, URL, affiliate links, etc.)
